In October 1971, Ray Scott stepped off a plane in Las Vegas, Nev., leading a group of 24 anglers into the first ever Bassmaster Classic.
Scootin' down the road on an errand and there it sat! Even from far away I could see the Bassmaster Classic decal standing out against a red hull. I saw it was an inboard-outboard and sensed that it was old.

In 1971 the very first Super Bowl of bass fishing was held, the only problem was that nobody knew where it would be. By design, Ray Scott kept the location secret until all the competitors were on a chartered jet in-route to the chosen lake.
