Toyota Bonus Bucks College Series continues to reward college anglers who tow their boat with a Toyota tow vehicle to Carhartt Bassmaster College Series, FLW College Fishing and select ACA Collegiate Bass Fishing Series tournaments. An any year Toyota Tundra, Tacoma, Sequoia or 4Runner is eligible for Bonus Bucks College Series.
The vehicle title/lease must be in the college participants name or in their parent(s)/legal guardian’s name to permit payouts. The free to register program continues to gain popularity among college anglers and provides them the chance to earn incremental funds for themselves, as well as a matching amount Toyota donates to their team or club.
Just ask East Carolina University angler Bryce Fowler, a junior studying business marketing. Fowler purchased his 2013 Toyota Tacoma when he turned 16, and it’s the only vehicle he’s ever owned.
“We bought the truck near Westchester, N.Y., where I grew up,” Fowler said. “I drove it down to school at East Carolina and now it takes me all over the country to fish.”
Fowler and his partner Chris Bowen, a senior construction management major, took another long road trip from the East Coast to compete this week on Toledo Bend Reservoir. The duo left North Carolina on Tuesday and drove 18 hours through the night to make it to tournament registration.
Fowler signed up for the College Series of Toyota Bonus Bucks last year, and while he has yet to cash a check from the popular contingency program, he appreciates the opportunity and support Toyota gives college bass fishing.
“It’s pretty awesome to have a company like Toyota offer programs like Bonus Bucks,” Fowler said. “Anytime you have the chance to make money while fishing at the college level, you can’t complain. There are no entry fees to these college events, but there are still lots of traveling costs, so every potential dollar goes a long way.”
