PELL CITY, Ala. — Zeke Gossett and Hayden Bartee signed letters of intent for the bass fishing team at Faulkner University, according to the St. Clair Times.
Gossett is a member of the inaugural Bassmaster High School All-American Fishing Team, and he won the tournament associated with it, along with his pro partner, Cliff Crochet.
“It is awesome and amazing,” said Gossett. “I am very excited and ready to get fishing. It’s an awesome campus, awesome people and it is just going to be awesome.”
Bartee said when he began fishing with Gossett four years ago, he had no idea he would have the opportunity to fish at the collegiate level with his best friend.
“This is one of the first (fishing) signings that Pell City (has had), and I am sure a lot of high schools have (never) had (anyone go) to a university for a fishing team,” said Bartee. “We are signing and going there for four years. It is a great blessing that we have been able to achieve this and be offered this. We are going to go down there and make the most of it.”
