Lee Livesay is no stranger to big limits. He won last year’s Elite on Lake Fork with a 4-day total of 112 pounds, 5 ounces, which made him the 32nd individual to enter the prestigious Bassmaster Century Club (100 pounds or more in total weight).
Apparently, he brought some of that mojo to Ross Barnett. As of 9:10 local time, the Texas pro sits atop the St. Croix Bassmaster Central Open’s BassTrakk standings with a 23-pound limit. His nearest competitors, Cody Bird and Nick Lebrun, trail by 12 pounds.
All weights are unofficial until weigh ins, but it’s a safe bet that Livesay’s “20” is every bit of that and likely more.
Livesay won his first of two Elite trophies in 2020 on Lake Chickamauga. Bird won the 2020 Central Open on Neely Henry Lake and Lebrun topped the 2021 Central Open at Grand Lake.
There’s plenty of time for his competitors to make their own marks, but Livesay’s in the driver’s seat. If he’s on a particular group of fish, he may opt to save some of the potential for Day 2, but his total will very likely increase by day’s end.
