BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Whataburger, known for big flavors and fresh ingredients served up just like you like it with 18 locations across Alabama, has signed on as the tournament title sponsor for the Bassmaster Elite Series on Alabama’s Neely Henry Lake, a Coosa River fishery renowned for its spotted bass. The 2021 Whataburger Bassmaster Elite at Neely Henry Lake — the second of three Elite events scheduled in Alabama during the 2021 season — will be held May 6-9 in Gadsden.
“Just like B.A.S.S., Whataburger is known for their loyal fans,” said Bruce Akin, B.A.S.S. CEO. “We are thrilled to partner with Whataburger as they begin to reach into new markets and explore opportunities in sportfishing, and we’re looking forward to introducing Whataburger to Bassmaster fans at the weigh-in events in Gadsden.”
“At Whataburger, we enjoy being involved in and around the local communities where we do business in Alabama, and especially love good, friendly competition,” said Jeff Altman, Whataburger’s Director of Sponsorships, Marketing & Innovation. “We’re looking forward to the Bassmaster Elite and hope to see you in Gadsden.”
“As a huge fan of Whataburger’s food and what they’ve done to support sports in my own community, I’m excited to welcome them on as title sponsor for the Elite at Neely Henry Lake,” said Texas native and Elite Series champion Lee Livesay. “In 2020, I finished in the Top 25 at the Basspro.com Bassmaster Central Open on Neely Henry and can’t wait to get back!”
Live coverage of all four days of the Whataburger Bassmaster Elite at Neely Henry Lake starts Thursday, May 6 on Bassmaster.com and the FOX Sports digital platforms. FS1 will also broadcast live with the tournament leaders beginning at 8 a.m. ET on Saturday and Sunday.
