Ugly Stik, the rough, tough and resilient brand from Pure Fishing, has been around for 45 years. But the popular product line has just appointed its first ever pro-staff member.
The partnership with Matt Robertson takes Ugly Stik into the 2021 Bassmaster Elite Series. Robertson, recognisable for his long blonde hair, On ’Em cap and fun approach to fishing, has been chosen as the ideal match for the brand’s values
“I’m a regular guy working my way from the bottom to the top using the working man’s gear,” says the Central City, Kentucky angler. “To be the first Ugly Stik pro, to represent all the working people out there, and be on the Bassmaster Elite Series using the working man’s rod, is an honour.
“After the excitement that Ugly Stik has brought me and millions of anglers, I’m here to prove that an Ugly Stik can not only be your first rod, it can be your last, too.”
For the Bassmaster Elite Series, Robertson will be fishing with the Ugly Stik Carbon, a rod that epitomises the legendary toughness that has become synonymous with the brand. The rod was launched in 2019, the same year Robertson fished his first Classic.
Ugly Stik entered the reels market for the first time last year with the Ugly Tuff range of spinning and spincast models, as well as launching new Ugly Tuff tools.
