B.A.S.S. is looking for a skilled social media editor who is knowledgeable and passionate about fishing. Good writing skills are key for this position, as are experience in and understanding of social media. 

Scope of Responsibility: Manage and create content for all of the company’s social media platforms. And create related content for Bassmaster.com and B.A.S.S. publications. 

Essential Functions:

  • Post, moderate and manage all B.A.S.S. social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat. Our social audience is currently 1.5 million fans strong. 
  • Work closely with the sales/marketing team, and B.A.S.S. advertisers, creating sponsored social media programs.
  • Work closely with Communications on key company initiatives. 
  • Produce internal reporting for all social media platforms.
  • Plan, assign to freelancers or create, edit and publish stories, photos and videos for social media and Bassmaster.com. 
  • Train Bassmaster Elite Series pros, B.A.S.S. Nation leaders and others in best practices for social media.
  • And monitor the social accounts of B.A.S.S. anglers for trends and opportunities to promote them. 

Qualifications:

College degree in English, journalism, communications or comparable field. Must possess fundamental editing skills and be highly organized and detail-oriented. Have the ability to create or assign relevant content in outdoors-related media. Ability to work in digital publishing systems, and learn technology quickly. Good judgment of newsworthiness is important in this role. Have at least 5 years of related experience. Must have strong command of grammar and ability to pass the departmental grammar/editing test. The position includes night and weekend work during tournaments. Some travel required.

Other key skills:

  • Ability to work well in a team setting, across multiple departments. 
  • Must be very organized and detail oriented, with the ability to juggle multiple projects with hard deadlines. For instance, in this role it is important to keep a social media calendar, sometimes planning posts months in advance.
  • Must be nimble, and able to jump on new and changing social media styles.
  • Should have a good eye for compelling art, video and content. 
  • Ability to write short copy, quickly, cleanly, along with good proofreading skills.
