Harrisburg, Pa. – The Pennsylvania B.A.S.S. Nation awarded scholarship money and prizes to the top finishers in the 2018 Pennsylvania Nation CastingKids state championship July 28 at the Harrisburg Bass Pro Shops.
“Throughout the year we held competitions at Bass Pro Shops every month and also did a contest in Emporium, Pa., at the Pennsylvania Youth Outdoors event in April,” Pennsylvania Nation Publicity Director Bob Herman said. “We had hundreds of children throughout the year compete to qualify for the championships.”
The CastingKids competition was divided into three age groups: 7- to 10-year-olds, 11-13 and 14-17. The top finishers at the state championship in each age group were the following:
7-10 age group

Olivia Lee, first

The winners of the 7-10 and 11-13 age groups each received a $250 scholarship check and the 14-17 winner received a $500 scholarship check, all courtesy of Sutliff Chevrolet, along with a trophy from the Pennsylvania Nation and a rod and reel combo from Bass Pro Shops. The second- and third-place finishers received a trophy from the Pennsylvania Nation along with a rod and reel combo from Bass Pro Shops.
Herman said the entire Capital City Bassmasters club and members of the club’s youth group, Capital City Junior Bassmasters, helped run the championships and other CastingKids contests throughout the year.
