As Timmy Horton walked along the dock to his boat before Day Four of the Champion's Choice presented by Toyota Tundra, Skeet Reese called to him from the deck of his own boat.
With the unmistakable tenor of the coronation of one of the sports bright young stars, the final day of the BASS Elite Series at Lake Champlain got under way Sunday.
Angler of the Year points leader and bass angler nonpareil Kevin VanDam owes some of his uncharacteristically low 27th-place finish at the Champion's Choice presented by Toyota Tundra to his outstanding practice.

As the weigh-in on Day Three of the Champion's Choice presented by Toyota Tundra wound down, Shaw Grigsby sidled up to Timmy Horton, who was watching the standings backstage.
"Every day's different with these smallmouths," said Cook. "We had a bunch of big fish follow the bait today. It's just that their attitude wasn't very good today."
"I'm fortunate in that I've fished this lake a lot under a lot of different conditions," he said. "I couldn't have asked to fish with three nicer people who took such good care of me."
Guys fishing for green fish way south of the Plattsburgh Boat Basin particularly leader Timmy Horton who's got over six and a half pounds on his nearest competitor seemingly have things in hand as the flags and trees lay still on the western shore of Lake Champlain.
