NH BASS Nation held its second open team tournament of 2017 on June 18 at Newfound Lake with launching out of the state ramp and holding the weigh in at the state beach. The STA-BIL Start Boat sent the 53 teams out on the water after making sure everyone’s safety equipment including livewells were functioning properly.
The anglers were greeted with mostly cloudy conditions with the wind at 10-15 MPH and water temperatures ranging from 67-71. There were several new teams to show up at this event including the winners Jim and Tyler Hanatow. They brought in a limit of four smallmouth for 13.98 pounds. Jim and Tyler targeted post-spawn smallmouth all day by throwing tubes in 10-22 feet of water. They reporting catching close to 50 fish and said the keys to their bites were fishing the deeper areas and using 6 pound test line. The team of Dan Greenwood and Bob Ryan brought in the Dobyns Rods Lunker Smallmouth with a 3.88 pounder. The second Dobyns Rods lunker smallmouth went to Sean Snover and Travis Rockett with a 3.67 pounder.

The Humminbird Team of the Year competition is heating up with the team of Peter Owen and Mike Deal leading the way with 382 points. They have a small 6 point lead over defending champions Pete Weeks and John Wright.
Our next open team trail event is on Lake Winnipesaukee on August 20th. The top three teams from our trail will qualify to fish the Toyota Bonus Bucks Bassmaster Team Championship on Norfolk Lake in Arkansas December 6-9.
