North East, Md. — The New Jersey B.A.S.S. Nation (NJBN) helped support one of its best sponsors during a team tournament June 3 on the Upper Chesapeake Bay.
New Jersey B.A.S.S. Nation members helped run the Susquehanna Fishing Tackle (SFT) Summer Slam tournament by handling the registration for the event and providing the weigh-in trailer, weigh-in scales, a live leaderboard screen and weigh-in tanks. “The NJ B.A.S.S. Nation and SFT have had a wonderful partnership for six years now,” said Marc Golding, NJ Nation tournament director. “SFT has been a supporter of our organization and the NJBN has supported all of SFT’s marketing efforts.” Golding noted this was the first year the NJBN ran the registration and weigh-in for SFT.
Teams entered the tournament through a “buy-in” process of purchasing $250 worth of any Shimano, Power-Pole, Jackall Lures or G Loomis products. There were 100 entries for the tournament and 85 teams participated in the event. Golding estimated approximately 40 percent of the field were B.A.S.S. Nation anglers from various states including New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and Virginia.
SFT paid out approximately $8,000 in prize money. “SFT owners Mike and George Accord were happy to finally reach the 100 entry mark, and the NJ B.A.S.S. Nation was pleased to be a huge part of the tournament success,” Golding said. “They also performed their famous tackle toss with George Accord sending boxes of the latest tackle flying into the crowd.”
The 2019 Summer Slam will mark the 10th anniversary of the tournament. Golding said the NJBN will be on hand again to handle registration and weigh-in duties.
