High School Central Open set for Sunday

Mossy Oak Fishing, the title sponsor of the Bassmaster High School Series and the official pattern of B.A.S.S., will present the High School Central Open on Norfork Lake in Mountain Home, Ark., on Sunday.

Mossy Oak Fishing is proud to be a sponsor of this High School Central Open Tournament and believes strongly not only in the future of fishing but also in the future of the young men and women who compete on the high school circuit of Bassmaster. More than 100 of the nation’s finest high school bass anglers will be at Norfork for the event.

Official practice will be Saturday with the competition held Sunday, which is forecast to be 85 degrees and sunny. The takeoff will be at 6:30 a.m. CT at Quarry Marina and Use Area in Salesville, Ark.

You may have a chance to see a young angler who’s already started to make the climb in the high school circuits and Juniors (second- through eighth-graders), who someday hope to fish on the Bassmaster Elite Series. Currently, 20 anglers are fishing the Elite Series who have come through the ranks of high school and college tournament bass fishing.

According to Hank Weldon, tournament director, “The Missouri, Arkansas and Texas teams may be favored in this event. The Top 10 finishers in the High School Central Open will qualify for the National Championship, and the winners at the Central Open will take home $2,000 for their team to use for bass fishing expenses.”

Excited parents, grandparents and friends will watch the teams weigh in at Quarry Marina and Use Area at 2:30 p.m. The weigh-in will also be carried live online at Bassmaster.com.
