WHAT SETS IT APART?
Expanding on its innovative Reaper design, AFTCO introduces the fashionably cut, feature-packed Women’s Reaper Soft Shell jacket — an outerwear item designed for comfort and performance. With all the reaches, stretches and occasional close contact inherent to outdoor activities, AFTCO makes each jacket from durable ripstop soft shell fabric. The design includes a built-in face mask lined with ultra-warm Hexatron tricot fleece material. Laser-cut ventilation in the underarm area allows for refreshing air flow.
HOW DO I USE IT?
The jacket’s three-layer soft shell covers that warming fleece with a 90% polyester, 10% spandex blended material. Windproof features also include an easy-access side zipper, internal hem cord adjustment and shock cord hood adjustment cinch system that helps keep the hood locked in place. You get AFTCO’s Durable Water Repellent (DWR) finish, which is a chemical treatment that keeps water, oil and other contaminants from penetrating a material. Sizes XS-XL.

That built-in, breathable facemask is one of the jacket’s best features, as it provides sun protection on those chilly days with bright skies, along with wind protection. My wife does not do well with cold air on her face, and even a mildly cool morning makes a boat ride uncomfortable for her. That’s where the face mask is a game changer. Another feature I like in any jacket is the adjustable Velcro cuffs, which allow the user to tighten at the wrist to block cold air and/or moisture, or loosen to allow airflow.
