ANDERSON, S.C. — Here's what we heard (and overheard) on Day Two of the 2008 Bassmaster Classic:
"Oh, crap! I won't be able to pop out of the stage."
— Jeff Kriet, 5th place, 18 pounds, 12 ounces, on losing a six-pounder to potentially miss his Super Six appearance. (In past Classics the final six on Day Three have taken part in a special show including appearing on stage through a cut out hole.)
"I made it by the skin of my teeth."
— Dave Wolak, 22nd place, 9-14
"I tried to come up with patterns that were spectator-proof."
— Kevin VanDam, 4th place, 11-14
"Tomorrow, I'm going to open up my box of lures, throw 'em out, and if anything makes a move on anything, that's what I'm going with."
— Kevin Short, 19th place, 12-2
"They're going a whole lot quicker today than they did last night,"
— Bobby Lane, 8th place, 14-13, on the pace of Saturday night's weigh-in.
"Everybody was crying today, it seemed to me."
— Steve Kennedy, 39th place, 5-3
