If you’ll recall back a couple of days, there was a group of Classic contenders that set up a lucrative Calcutta. The side bet was based on which angler among six who weighed the lightest stringer on Day 1 of the 2019 GEICO Bassmaster Classic presented by DICK’S Sporting Goods would have to spend Day 2 traveling with a 5-foot teddy bear.
Jacob Wheeler, Adrian Avena and Mark Daniels Jr. set up the deal, and after a few personalities were added to the list the groundwork was in place. They named him “Ted.”
After the opening round of the Super Bowl of fishing, the standings in the group were as follows:
Jacob Wheeler – 14 pounds, 11 ounces
Mark Daniels Jr. – 14-8
Adrian Avena – 12-15
Jesse Wiggins – 10-11
Casey Ashley – 10-1
Edwin Evers – 8-12
Edwin Evers, a former Classic Champ, managed the lightest limit therefore he had to take “Ted” for a long, cold boat ride.
Well played, men.
