SUMMERTON, S.C. – Allan Glasgow is going to the 2012 Bassmaster Classic.
Coming from behind on the final day, the Ashville, Ala., angler won theToyota Tundra Bassmaster Weekend Series National Championship, operated by American Bass Anglers.
Glasgow caught 9.35 pounds on Saturday, less than half of what he had in posting the biggest bags each of the past two days. He probably came to the weigh-in thinking his dreams were dashed, but leader Mike Jackson of San Mateo, Fla., stumbled, opening the door by not weighing in one fish.
With a 65.10 total, Glasgow held off Wade Grooms of Bonneau, S.C., who finished second with 64.37 after he caught 14.63 Saturday. Day One leader Kenneth W. Heckel of Lamar, Ind., had 17.27 on Saturday to total 64.32 and finish third. Jackson’s zero left him fourth with 58.69.
As the Boater Division champion, Glasgow took home $100,000 in prize money. He will also represent the Bassmaster Weekend Series in the 2012 Bassmaster Classic, which will be held Feb. 24-26 on the Red River in Shreveport, La.
