Humminbird 360 Imaging
Humminbird is looking to set the electronics world on its ear with 360 Imaging. Rather than scan straight down, the 360 units scan in a circle, allowing you to see everywhere around the boat, including whatâs ahead of you. Shown here is a submerged bridge.
Here you can actually see fish in a scattering of beds. Because this is in front of the boat, the bass hasnât been spooked. With traditional sonar equipment, you would have had to have ârun overâ the fish to graph it, but it likely would not have been there.
American Tackle MicroWave guide
The company that brought us the Wave Spin spinning reel, which is said to offer the longest casts of any spinning reel, now has a rod to accompany the reel. The MicroWave guides are available on CastAway rods, and are lighter and more conducive to longer, smoother casts. The secret lies in the initial guide, which is a guide-within-a-guide. Itâs reported to cut down on wind knots, smooth line as it flies off the reel, and give the angler a longer cast.
Power-Pole Drift Paddles
If you frequent âbig water,â these could come in handy. The Drift Paddles affix to your Power-Poles and, when dunked into the water, slow your drift as the wind howls. Needless to say theyâre easier to use than a cumbersome drift sock.
River2Sea Rover
Pro angler Scott Martin liked the action of the original River2Sea Rover, but he made a few tweaks which earned him a $600,000 payday in the form of a tournament win with his hot rod bait. Now, River2Sea has incorporated Martinâs changes with this new Rover that is heavier in the tail to create a more exaggerated slashing and erratic action. A host of new colors are also available.

Though itâs not a fancy new lure or reel, Buckâs FlashPoint deserves a place on your boat or in your pocket. Buck designed the FlashPoint with safety in mind, which led them to creating the SafeSpin open/close technology which allows the user to open the knife without placing a hand on the blade. Total length when open is 7 1/4 inches; the blade is 2 7/8 inches and made of partially serrated 420HC steel. A carabiner lets you clip it to a bag, and a bottle opener means youâll never be without access to your favorite beverage.
Quantumâs EXO line of reels made a splash at ICAST 2011, and Quantum is looking to do it again with a new line of EXO reels that have more line capacity in the EXOPT 200 and 300 series of baitcasters. They have wider spools, bigger frames, more line capacity, and half of them are left-handed models. The aluminum frame houses a CSCdrag system that will take the heat and operate smoothly based on the carbon, stainless and ceramic disks. Soft, EVA foam handle knobs finish off the package.
Luck âEâ Strike RC STX Mini
The RC STX jerkbait just got âminnowfiedâ â the smaller version retains the features of the larger RC STX, but in a 3 1/2-inch package. The color of the pictured bait is also new, itâs called black diamond. An internal weight transfer system ensures that you can still cast this diminutive jerkbait a good ways.
