Feider’s favorite new baits

Seth Feider is one of the most popular names on the Bassmaster Elite Series. The 2021 Progressive Bassmaster Angler of the Year takes us through his favorite new bait releases from Z-Man.
Graph Shadz
“This is a unique new minnow-style system from Z-Man. You actually run the line through the top of the head and the line tie is under the chin. This lets your bait always run true and straight,” said Feider.
“The system comes with a jighead and two minnows; I recommend using a dab of super glue when you run the bait up the keeper,” said Feider. “Once you do that, these baits will last 50-plus fish each. The heads come in three different weights but all the same size hook to match the Graph Shadz minnow.”
TRD Fattyz
“This is a pretty killer little Ned rig bait or even on a drop shot. It is going to have a little more action than a standard TRD and like all ElazTech baits, it’s going to float,” said Feider. “It will stand straight up on a Ned rig and hover perfectly horizontal on a drop shot.”
Drop Kickerz
“This bait has a wedge-style tail that puts off a good bit of vibration. You can fish this on a drop shot or a light jighead fished like a swimbait,” according to Feider. “For me, it’s mostly a drop-shot bait. This will be a great bait for drift fishing like we do on the St. Lawrence River because of that action the tail gives off.”
Shadtron
“The Shadtron has a wedge style tail kind of like a Huddleston. This will be great for slow rolling or fishing fast,” said Feider. “It comes in a 4 1/2- and 6-inch profiles to imitate threadfin and gizzard shad respectably.
“There are two different ways to rig this bait. It comes with a custom hook and you can run your line through the nose and rig it line-through, or run it through to the bottom and you can rig a treble hook on the bottom.”
Tungsten ChatterBait EVO and ChatterShad
“It has a really similar action to the JackHammer but with a different sound,” said Feider. “The tungsten head gives it a different vibration.”
“I like the keeper on this a little better than the JackHammer,” stated Feider. “Pair this with the new ChatterShad and it’s just a fish catcher.”
“It’s hard to beat black and blue, but the Tungsten EVO is has different color combinations from the JackHammer.”

Giant TRD
“Anywhere in the North this has been a killer for me on a flip shot with 15- or 17-pound line,” said Feider. “I throw it a lot of the same places I throw a jig or a Texas rig. It’s my cleanup bait when I find a group of fish in grass or on a rockpile.”
“I caught at least two of my fish on this rig Day 1 at Lake Champlain and all of my fish Day 2.”
4-inch Scented Jerk ShadZ
“This is a killer bait on a drop shot or a jighead. I really like it on a drop shot because it lets me throw a bigger hook,” said Feider. “I don’t have to nose hook it with a small hook. This was the same setup I was using in the Open on Lake St. Clair.”
