COLUMBIA, S.C. — Ugly Stik, one of fishing’s most venerable brands with legions of loyal followers across both fresh and saltwater markets worldwide, will be bringing retail sales promotions to the 2020 Classic Expo in support of its recently released Carbon rods. Since its release in Fall 2019, the rod has been met with great acclaim across the fishing industry as the rod blends the legendary Ugly Stik power and durability with new-age performance and feel at a universally accessible price point.
During the Classic Expo, the sport show which coincides with this year’s 2020 Academy Sports + Outdoors Bassmaster Classic presented by Huk in Birmingham, Ala., anglers who purchase a new Ugly Stik Carbon casting or spinning rod from retailers operating at the event will be eligible to receive an Ugly Stik-branded dry bag, perfect for keeping clothing and other essentials dry while on a boat or the bank. The new Ugly Stik Carbon rod is the lightest Ugly Stik ever. The new series of rods features a new carbon technology crafted of 100% 24-ton graphite, which allow the new rods to be lightweight and 37% stronger, on average, than other similar-action rods made without the Ugly Stik process controlled, laboratory tests. The new Carbon rods still deliver the time-tested toughness that has been the hallmark of the Ugly Stik brand.
The new Ugly Stik Carbon series marks a major improvement in rod handling and sensitivity for the brand, and the series also encompasses other performance qualities that raise the bar for the brand in terms of features and benefits. The rods feature Ugly Tuff stainless steel guides and the highly popular WINN split grips for added comfort and control.
“The Carbon rods are unlike any Ugly Stik has made before. Yet they still embody all of the hallmark performance characteristics that people love about the brand,” said Ugly Stik Vice President of Marketing Jon Schlosser. “Anglers are shocked that a rod can have this much power and be so sensitive at the same time. That it does these things while remaining in line with the affordability of other Ugly Stik models makes it one of the best values in all of fishing.”
