What is it?
Suzuki 115SS 4-stroke outboard.
What does it do?
This is the newest motor to join Suzuki’s SS series of 4-stroke outboards. It’s hotter than a $3 pistol and as miserly on fuel as a Prius car.
How do I use it?
If your 18- or 19-foot rig is in need of a repower, this 4-stroke is worth considering for a few reasons. It’s the lightest in its class, and since it’s a 4-stroke you don’t need that oil reservoir anymore. Plus the holeshot smacks more of a 150 than a 115.
What sets it apart?
When you lay eyes on it, the matte black finish jumps out. When you get behind the wheel of a boat that’s rated for a 115 max, that’s where it really shines. The big displacement roars rather than revs, and you’re on plane lickety-split. The power band is very balanced, pulling hard toward 6,000 rpm.
