It’s a minnow-shaped soft plastic lure with a unique tail and swimming action.
What sets it apart?
The versatility and performance is a very attractive feature to both fish and angler. The lure can be easily modified to achieve different actions: When the tail is left in tact it has a slow rate-of-fall, which can be changed by removing the middle portion of the tail to increase speed of descent.
How do I use it?
The Houdini Shad can be rigged as a swimbait or Texas-rigged with a nose weight. A lure like this works well when there is an abundance of wounded or dying baitfish, especially shad. A slow-rolling retrieve will entice bites from feeding bass; sometimes an ultra-slow crawl along bottom will force stubborn bass into eating. The lure is 5 inches long, available in six forage-mimicking color patters and comes in packs of 10.

Swimbaits get huge; so big that anglers have to use muskie equipment to throw them. But, downsizing the presentation can also catch giant bass. The Houdini Shad is a very finessy bait that produces an erratic swimming action that bass find hard to resist. It’s unique for sure, but it catches fish when most other swimbaits and fluke-like soft plastics will not.
