Gear Review: Strike King Sugar Buzz

The attractive action matched with reduced chances of fish throwing the hooks, the Sugar Buzz deserves a spot in your arsenal.

What is it?

Strike King Sugar Buzz

What does it do?

It is a buzzbait with a joint between the head and body.

What sets it apart?

Well, it’s set apart from itself… The free-swinging hook and loud clacking buzzer disrupt surface tension to attract big bass willing to feed topside. The free-swinging hook design makes it difficult for the fish to come unbuttoned, and it adds an attractive wiggle to the lures trailer.

How do I use it?

As soon as the bait hits the water, begin cranking and hang on. Typically, topwater bites are best during twilight hours, but at certain times of the year, and when conditions are ideal it can be a great presentation all day long.

How much?

Editor insight:

This is an interesting design that really has a unique action. Once a fish eats the bait, they seldom throw the hook, which is the best feature, if you ask me. And, as far as colors go, I think anything typically works, but black is my choice in 99 percent of situations I encounter.
