What is it?
St. Croix Swim Frog
What sets it apart?
Addressing the popularity of swim (buzz) frogs, St. Croix has engineered new rods that deliver performance with these tantalizing reaction baits, as well as swim jigs, topwater frogs, big swimbaits, speed worms and others. Packed with features that bolster both the presentation and fish-fighting considerations, St. Croix’s Swim Frog design is made in the high end Legend Tournament Bass series and the more moderately price Mojo Bass series.
How do I use it?
Both rods are 7-foot, 5-inch medium-heavy with extra-fast action and Integrated Poly Curve (IPC) mandrel technology. The high-end Legend Tournament Bass model is comprised of SCIV carbon with Advanced Reinforcing Technology (ART) and Fortified Resin System (FRS). Features include Fuji K-Series tangle-free guides with Alconite rings and Corrosion Control matte finish frames, machined-aluminum wind check and trim pieces, split-grip/super-grade cork handle and Kigan hook-keeper.
The Mojo Bass rod features premium, high modulus SCIII carbon, slim-profile ferrules, Kigan Master Hand 3D guides with aluminum-oxide rings and black frames, Fuji ECS reel seat with black hood (casting), Fuji DPS reel seat with black hoods (spinning), Split-grip/premium-grade cork handle and Kigan hook-keeper.
How much?
$310 (Legend)
$140 (Mojo)

Angler’s insight:
I got a look at these rods at the Bassmaster Classic Outdoors Expo, and the quality and craftsmanship are immediately apparent. That 7-5 length will prove invaluable in providing the reach and fish-dislodging leverage requisite for fishing heavy cover. Another important dynamic is line pick-up, someting that the Swim Frog rods’ length and extra-fast action will certainly facilitate. Props to St. Croix for offering this performance in two well-known rod families with pricing options to fit most budgets.
