What does it do?
It cranks in big fish, and looks good doing it! The Citica helps anglers achieve maximum casting distance, which keeps the lure in the strike zone longer. The reel weighs a modest 7.4 ounces, contains a 5 ball-bearing system, plus 1 roller bearing, a 12-pound drag and it collects a range of 26 to 30 inches of line per turn of the handle.
What sets it apart?
Shimano’s proven X-Ship technology creates ultra smooth line retrieval, and the lightweight Hagane body is tough and durable, but feels like a feather in your hands reducing hand and arm fatigue during a full day of fishing. The reel also boasts a very easy-to-manage SVS Infinity braking system that can be adjusted on the fly. Each reel in the series carries a braided line capacity of 190 yards of 30-pound, 120 yards of 50-pound and 80 yards of 65-pound line. Monofilament capacity is 180 yards of 8-pound, 155 yards of 10-pound and 110 yards of 14-pound line.
How do I use it?
The Citica I Series is available in both left- and right-handed models with several gear ratio options: The 6.5:1 and 6.3:1 geared reels are ideal for crankbaits, chatterbaits and other horizontal, swimming-type lures, while the 7.2:1 is built for quick line pick up that typically comes with most vertical presentations, but don’t overlook it for ripping a lipless rattlebait through the grass!
