What is it?
Daiwa Tatula SV
What sets it apart?
Daiwa addresses a broad range of bass fishing scenarios with its popular Tatula family, and the 100 size TATULA SV TW103 expands the offering with the lineup’s smallest and lightest reel. Weighing 6.9 ounces, this reel features Daiwa’s SV Spool and Air Brake technology, which work together to minimize backlashes, while allowing lengthy casts with lighter baits. Designing the Tatula SV with magnetic braking and centrifugal braking technology furthered those objectives.
How do I use it?
The SV stands for Stress-free Vertical technology, which combines an ultra-lightweight Super Duralumin spool with a movable ramp induct rotor that interacts with the brake system’s magnetic field to regulate spool speed during the cast. Built with a seven-bearing system, Zero Adjuster spool, Ultimate Tournament Carbon Drag and a 90mm swept handle, the Tatula SV is available in standard (6.3:1), high speed (7.3:1) and hyper speed (8.1:1) gear ratios with left- and right-hand models.

Angler’s insight:
When the situation calls for smaller, lighter baits — shallow running balsa crankbaits, micro jigs, finesse Texas rigs, tiny spinnerbaits — it’s helpful to have the strength and accuracy of a baitcaster without the limitation of short casting distance and the hassle of frequent backlashes. One of the Tatula family’s most helpful features is Daiwa’s patented T-Wing level wind system (TWS) which allows line to flow freely through the “T” aperture on the cast and then drop into a lower channel for even spool distribution.
