Gear Review: Carhartt Force Fishing Long Sleeve Hoodie

What is it?

Carhartt Force Fishing Long Sleeve Hoodie

What sets it apart?

Carhartt created this sturdy outerwear piece from 4.25-ounce bird’s-eye knit polyester and treated it with FastDry technology which wicks away perspiration moisture for a fresh and comfortable experience. Enhancing the hoodie’s performance is Carhartt’s Stain Breaker technology, a chemical treatment that helps the fabric release the various fish-related stains, along with barbecue sauce from dinner and the occasional brush with a goose-pooped dock. The design includes contrast-color neck tape and a front neck overlap for greater sun protection.

How do I use it?

The Force Fishing hoodie features Raglan sleeves, which promote a full range of motion. A Raglan sleeve is distinguished by a one-piece design extending all the way to the collar. The clean diagonal seam reaching from the underarm to the collar creates a smooth look. Other beneficial features include a UPF 20 rating, side-seamed construction for less twisting, comfort-minded tagless neck label, smooth flatlock seams and the Carhartt fishing graphic printed on the left sleeve.

Angler’s insight:

There are several reasons to wear a hoodie and cold weather is only one of them. Sight fishing is a biggie in the bass market, as covering your head works in concert with a hat and sunglasses to create a vision corridor with peripheral light blocked. Another involves blocking annoying insects from gnats to mosquitos. Lastly, ever need a quick power nap at your desk, on an airplane, in a boat show parking lot? A hoodie won’t replace noise-canceling headphones, but a little seclusion helps me sleep. I like how this garment feels sturdier than your standard performance shirt, yet remains a comfortably light garment.
