Gear Review: Bubba Small Shears

What is it?

Bubba Small Shears

What sets it apart?

If you’re anything like me, you would look at a pair of fishing cutters/shears and think it’s just another tool that does the same thing they all do. Well, after a closer look at the Bubba Small Shears, that’s certainly not the case. Bubba has added a good number of features that really do make a difference in the quality of the product. The first thing I noticed was the quality of the blades. A titanium nitride coat covers the blades which should help eliminate rusting as well as provide overall greater durability. The blades are micro-serrated to help you cut through the thickest fishing line you’ve got, including braided line.

How do I use it?

When you’re on the water, having a good pair of cutters is super important. Whether you’re cutting fishing line, trimming a jig skirt or removing a weed guard, the Bubba Small Shears will get the job done. One feature that will make using the Small Shears easier is the non-slip grip. Although the primary use of the Small Shears is to cut through fishing line, there are a few other uses as well. A bottle opener is added to the bottom of the handle as well as a crimping tool that will help you crimp lead weights.

Angler’s insight:

Simple accessories such as a pair of shears are often overlooked but are also a necessity when you’re on the water. At a reasonable price point, these shears are going to last and get the job done time after time. The smaller size makes these shears a great choice for storing away in your boat, kayak or even in a backpack.
