Gear review: Jetboil Stove System

The Jetboil is a compact camping stove system designed to heat water to boiling in less than two minutes.

There’s nothing worse on cold mornings at camp than waiting for water to boil for that first cup of coffee. Thankfully, with the Jetboil stove system, by the time you measure out the coffee grounds, your water will be hot.

What is it?

The Jetboil is a compact camping stove system designed to heat water to boiling in less than two minutes. It has an insulated canister for easy handling, as well as a color-changing heat indicator that takes the guesswork out of the water temperature (for certain models).

What sets it apart?

The Jetboil stove is lightweight and compact, making it the perfect backpacking stove. The canisters range in size from 0.8 to 1 liter, depending on your cooking needs. There are different models with varying canister sizes, but all the accessories are interchangeable.

How do I use it?

The process is simple, just assemble your stove, add water to the FluxRing cooking cup and light your stove. Certain models come with an automatic ignition system, but not all of them, so be sure to check which setup your stove is equipped with before you head out.

How much?

$87.85 – $134.95

Expert insight:

The Jetboil stove system is our favorite way to heat water. We use the stove for coffee, dehydrated meals and occasionally to boil our drinking water. The system heats quickly and is very easy to use. Even when we have the option to use larger stoves at camp, we always pack the Jetboil.
