What sets it apart?
Costa Sunglasses, maker of color-enhancing, all-polarized glass sunglass lenses, introduces an enhanced version of its popular Jose frame. Initially introduced in 2010, this legacy frame was named for legendary waterman and host of The Spanish Fly and Vida del Mar TV shows Jose Wejebe, who died in a small-plane crash on April 6, 2012. They are made from lightweight Bio-Resin, which reduces the carbon footprint while maintaining Costa’s exacting measure of durability.
How do I use it?
The Jose Pro joins Costa’s Pro Series family, all of which include Hydrolite temples, which cling tighter the wetter they get. Adjustable ventilated nose pads help reduce fogging, and Sweat Management channels on the arms help move perspiration away from the eyes, while eyesore drains prevent sweat and water from pooling inside the frame. Elsewhere, rubber side shields prevent light from sneaking in and distracting one’s focus. For convenience, metal keeper slots easily hold your preferred keepers, so the Costas stay in the boat and out of the water.

This new design from Costa blends legit performance-based features with a heartstrings appeal. To say Wejebe was a beloved figure in the sportfishing community would be a gross understatement. Honoring his memory with an updated frame design is a good move, as is Costa’s commitment to supporting the Jose Wejebe Memorial Foundation — a 501(c)3 charitable organization dedicated to honoring Wejebe’s legacy of conservation, education and making fishing dreams come true.
