WHAT IS IT?

St. Croix GXR Bass Systems

WHAT SETS IT APART?

Casting outfits come with 7-foot, 1-inch; 7-foot, 2-inch; and 7-foot 4-inch rods, while the spinning lineup offers 6-foot, 10-inch and 7-foot, 1-inch length options, the latter coming in medium and medium-heavy models. All rods in the GXR Bass Systems lineup are built on St. Croix’s strong, responsive SCII carbon-fiber blanks fitted with lightweight and durable hybrid stainless-steel guide trains for balance and performance with all line types. Split-grip handle design with premium cork grips, blank-through nylon reel seats, and black stainless-steel and nylon hoods complete the package.

HOW DO I USE IT?

A year after St. Croix bolstered its seven-plus decades of rod building superlatives by introducing the SEVIIN Reels family, the privately-owned company based in Park Falls, Wis., united the two distinct brands by announcing the St. Croix GXR Bass Systems – a lineup of eight high-performance St. Croix rods matched and balanced with complimentary SEVIIN GXR casting and spinning reels. With casting and spinning models available, the GXR Bass System covers a broad spectrum of applications with technique-optimized rod-and-reel combinations.

ANGLER’S INSIGHT:

With the St. Croix GXR Bass Systems concept based on the principal of synergy, the reel pairings simply must hold up their end of the partnership. SEVIIN satisfies this expectation with dependable casting reels built on a compact 100-size lightweight graphite frame and equipped with anodized aluminum spools, magnetic cast control, 6+1 stainless-steel bearings, stainless-steel drag stack, while a versatile 7.3:1 retrieve ratio. Equally impressive, the spinning reels start with a 3000-size carbon fiber body and rotors with anodized and ported aluminum spools. SEVIIN adds 8+1 stainless steel bearings for smooth operation and a carbon fiber and stainless-steel drag stack that functions consistently in at settings.
