Gear Review: Simms Pro Dry Rain Suit

WHAT IS IT?

SIMMS Pro Dry Rain Suit

WHAT SETS IT APART?

The Pro Dry jacket features a three-way adjustable hood that protects against driving rain without sacrificing peripheral vision and a high collar for extra protection. The design includes a zippered internal chest pocket to keep valuables dry, along with two exterior zippered chest pockets and two zippered hand pockets with brushed tricot liner. The bib features and internal drop-in chest pocket that holds your cellphone during heavy rain, spacer mesh suspension harness for support and all-day comfort, zippered side seams for putting on and taking off without removing your boots, an internal crotch gusset to keep water out and articulation in the knees.

HOW DO I USE IT?

SIMMS scored an enviably accolade at ICAST by topping the Cold Weather Technical Apparel for Men category with the new Pro Dry suit. Billing this jacket/bib combo as a foul weather fortress, SIMMS made this set from waterproof/breathable Gore-Tex Pro fabric to keep an angler dry and comfortable throughout the day’s action. Exemplifying a balanced design, the jacket includes bolstered durability in high-wear areas and a lighter-weight construction in areas needing enhanced mobility.

ANGLER’S INSIGHT:

Known for high standards of quality, design and performance, SIMMS loaded this rainsuit with a bouquet of angler-friendly features. Starting with range of motion, the jacket’s articulated sleeves are shaped to promote casting motion, while allowing sufficient room for insulating layers. The single-hand adjustable cuffs are a nice touch, as they allow you to quickly cinch tightly to prevent water intrusion. Other attractive features include: sunglass chamois in left chest pocket, an adjustable hem, a single kill switch D-ring and reflective logos for maximum visibility.
