Gear Review: Rapala 20-pound High Vis Digital Scale

WHAT IS IT?

Rapala 20-pound High Vis Digital Scale

WHAT SETS IT APART?

A digital scale with an oversized E-Link high-vis display can be seen from all angles, in the sun and even while wearing sunglasses. An external strain gauge provides +/- .02% accuracy. LED screen light with a large comfort-grip handle and trigger finger selection button for ease of use. Heavy-duty composite weigh clamp secures quickly and easily to hold fish.

HOW DO I USE IT?

The scale features a tournament setting for five bins, eight bins or no limit to use in “every fish count” events. View total bag weight, or save minimum and maximum weights as reminders for determining cull weights. Settings include display mode and for tournament validation date with time stamps. Requires 4 AAA batteries (not included). Waterproof.

ANGLER’S INSIGHT:

A digital scale is a must-have anymore in these days of digital scoring in tournaments. The large, grippy handle and oversized (for digital scales) high-vis display screen are home runs, along with the clamp that firmly holds fish in place for weighing.

What else I like is the ability to save weights for when it comes time to cull up. No more doing the math in your head. It’s visible on the screen. You save time, improve fish health and get back to what matters the most, which is making the next cast.
