WHAT IS IT?
Garmin Panoptix PS22-IF Ice Fishing Bundle
WHAT SETS IT APART?
Designed specifically for hard water anglers, the PS22-IF features an industry-first pole-free transducer system with a new bracket and rotator. Eliminating the need for a pole mount, the design makes it easy to adjustment for depth, direction and sonar mode. Designed with an ECHOMAP UHD2 73sv touchscreen combo with keyed assist, the PS22-IF offers Panoptix LiveVü Forward and LiveVü Down and shows live sonar images up to 100 feet in any direction below the ice.
HOW DO I USE IT?
Largemouth bass metabolism definitely slows down with an ice cap covering their lake, but the fish do not stop feeding. Find a nice weed bed full of bugs and bluegill and you’ll likely find winter bass. Bait choice matters, but consistency requires the same sonar observation you’d employ from the bow of a boat. Garmin facilitates this goal with its new Panoptix PS22-IF Ice Fishing Bundle, which offers a live sonar solution optimized for ice fishing.

ANGLER’S INSIGHT:
For those unfamiliar with sport’s complexities, the phrase “ice fishing” often conjures images of stationary, ice shack parking (a la Grumpy Old Men). There’s nothing wrong with that, as rented ice houses with varying degree of creature comforts offer a nice relaxing experience. However, aggressive ice fishermen are all about the hole hopping. For optimal portability, Garmin made the PS22-IF about a third the weight of its other bundles, so it requires less effort to move from spot to spot. Less fatigue means more mobility, and when it comes to tracking down those winter bass, you must cover some water — even if you’re standing on it.
