WHAT IS IT?
Daiwa Dr. Jointed Minnow Sinking Jerkbait
WHAT SETS IT APART?
Crafted in Japan and now available in the U.S., the 2-inch, 7/64-ounce Dr. Minnow Jointed Sinking Jerkbait is made with realistic eyeballs, gills and scales molded into its finely tuned body. A sleek and durable bill yields a tight wobble, while a pair of sticky sharp No. 12 treble hooks hang from small but strong split rings. Made to sink at rest, but run true on the retrieve, Daiwa’s new bait is available in Cali Gold, Matte Albino, Yamame and Wakasagi patterns.
HOW DO I USE IT?
The concept of Bait Finesse fishing — downsized baitcasting tackle, line and baits — originated in Japan, where clear water and pressured fisheries has pressed anglers and manufacturers to constantly develop new ways to catch wary and educated fish. Spinning tackle certainly plays a role here, but the whole BF concept centers on maintaining accuracy and distance when throwing tiny lures on baitcasting gear. Daiwa has played a key role in creating some of the tools for this task, so it’s no surprise that the company would create baits like the Dr. Minnow Jointed Sinking Jerkbait specifically for BF pursuits. Presenting a small baitfish silhouette that appeals to fish that might ignore a larger profile, this bait follows Daiwa’s original Dr. Minnow Floating Jerkbait with a slow-sinking form designed for greater action.

ANGLER’S INSIGHT:
We love seeing giant bass crushing giant forage, as visions of Lake Fork tanks gulping 8-inch gizzard shad come to mind. However, bass eat what’s available and, at times, that means forage meriting the phrase “itty bitty.” Fall often sees bass chasing clouds of young-of-the-year threadfin shad, while certain Elite fisheries — Sabine River, Upper Mississippi River — hold endless supplies of baitfish that never meet the 2-inch mark. Long story short, when tiny baitfish crowd the buffet, the only effective infiltrators are baits of equal stature.
