Gear Review: Cashion BFS Rod

WHAT IS IT?

Cashion BFS Rod

WHAT SETS IT APART?

Cashion’s 6-foot, 10-inch fast action medium-light Bait Finesse System rod is designed for use with 4- to 10-pound line and 1/8- to 7/16-ounce lures. Ideal for single-hook finesse baits, Ned rigs, drop shots, micro jigs and shaky heads, the rod features a blank-through graphite reel seat, cork rear grip, EVA foam butt grip, size 5 guides and ergonomic hook keeper. Created to maximize responsiveness in casting and reacting, this rod helps anglers feel their bait action and detect subtle bites.

HOW DO I USE IT?

It’s one of the hottest new segments of the fishing rod market, and it just got more affordable thanks to Cashion Rods’ new ELEMENT Series Bait Finesse System (BFS) rod. Priced at nearly half the cost of Cashion’s ICON Series BFS rod, the new ELEMENT rod is built to equip anglers throwing significantly downsized baits for highly pressured fish, often on small waters. Slinging tiny crankbaits, jerkbaits, topwaters and lightly weighted plastics presents the challenge of merging distance, accuracy and fish-fighting power, but Cashion rose to the occasion, while holding down cost.

ANGLER’S INSIGHT:

One of the most impressive elements of Cashion’s offerings is the company’s commitment to sourcing and building its rods in the U.S.A. Each Cashion ELEMENT rod starts with the company’s expert handcrafting team wrapping raw carbon fiber materials together to create the CR4r blank. From there, the unsanded blank receives an advanced encapsulation and protection process that readies the foundation for a full complement of quality custom components. Speaking of the company’s core values of supporting American workers, businesses and economy, Cashion Rods Owner and Founder, Dr. Matthew Cashion said: “It’s not cheap and it’s not always easy, but it’s the right thing to do and we stand by that.”
