WHAT IS IT?
Buckeye Lures G-Stroll Jig Head (Unpainted, 3/16 ounce, BKK Hook)
WHAT SETS IT APART?
The Buckeye Lures G-Stroll Jig Head was designed by longtime pro Gerald Swindle to target pressured bass using the hover-strolling technique. With forward-facing sonar changing the way anglers approach suspended fish, this jighead was purpose-built to stay level and deliver subtle action that triggers bites.
What really makes the G-Stroll stand out is its unique weight-forward design. The offset placement protects your knot and maintains a true 90-degree presentation in the water. This gives your soft plastic minnow or jerkbait a tight “rock and roll” motion on the drop or during twitches. It also features a short-shank, stout BKK hook available in 2/0 or 3/0, depending on jig size — ideal for pinning fish that just nip at the bait.
HOW DO I USE IT?
Pair the G-Stroll with a 3- to 4-inch soft plastic minnow or fork-tail bait and fish it slowly through the water column using slight twitches or slow drags. It shines when targeting suspended bass using forward-facing sonar or while vertically jigging beneath the boat. The jig’s balanced design keeps the bait hovering naturally, which is crucial for fooling cautious fish in clear water or during tough bites.
Swindle’s design lends itself well to mid-strolling in open water or around light cover. For best results, match hook size to your plastic and adjust weight based on your depth or rate of fall preference.

ANGLER’S INSIGHT:
I rigged the G-Stroll Jig Head with a 3.5-inch fluke-style bait on a clear Alabama reservoir and was impressed with how easily it held its horizontal posture on the fall. The motion was tight and deliberate — not too aggressive, which made it perfect for coaxing bites from spooky fish spotted on sonar.
While the hook felt solid and dependable, I did wish it was just a touch longer to better fit certain bait profiles. Still, it’s got enough backbone to pin big fish, and the beefed-up design gives you confidence when swinging on a soft bite.
For anglers dialed into the hover-strolling bite, especially in the FFS era, this jighead adds another weapon to your finesse game.
