Social media roundup: St. Lawrence 2023 edition

On the eve of the final Elite Series event of the season, let’s take a quick look around social media to see what the anglers have been up to.
Though this took place on the cancelation day at last week event on Lake Champlain, it was worth sharing.
Steve Kennedy and his crew set out on an adventure.
Ausable Chasm was no match for the Kennedy’s.
Carl Jocumsen and his family setup shop in Clayton, N.Y., site of this week’s Minn Kota Bassmaster Elite at St. Lawrence River.
Luke Palmer does a little tackle prep. Though this week’s event will still be dominated with smallmouth bass caught on finesse presentations…
… the focus will move from Damiki rigs for suspended fish to dropshots and Ned rigs for bottom dwellers. Frank Talley swaps his gear around as well.
Brock Mosley celebrates his birthday with a group of fellow Elites and friends.
But now it’s time to get back to work, as Mosley shares a morning view from his office.
Another beautiful shot of the St Lawrence from Lee Livesay’s rig.
Luke Palmer is all smiles as he enjoys the sunrise and the cool weather to boot. Forecasts have the weather in the 60s and 70s most of the week, down into the 50s this weekend. And you just can’t beat the view here.
Another gorgeous shot from David Williams.
And one last look at the calm waters during practice from Jake Whitaker.
The weather is building though, and Day 1 looks to be a lot rougher with winds in the 15- to 25-mph range.
Drew Benton sets the hook in practice.
There will be a lot of these caught this week.
There will be a lot of gas burnt too. Forty gallons to go and no clicker on the pump, so Kyle Norsetter had to improvise.
Back to the water, as Brock Mosley pays more attention to his graphs than the boat passing.
Bassmaster Classic Champ Jeff Gustafson shows us the trick that’s up his sleeve. Gussy uses an Aqua-Vu camera during practice, perhaps the only thing that paints a clearer picture than forward-facing sonar.
Though its range is more limited, even in these crystal clear waters.
Still, this little system dispels any doubt as to what is down there.
Now this is more like it — a stud smallmouth caught by Brandon Lester.
There’s a lot on the line here this week. The Progressive Angler of the Year and Dakota Lithium Rookie of the Year races will be decided in just four days.
There will be contingency money awarded to the anglers that finish high in those races, as well as a full Elite purse awarded to the anglers who do well in this week’s event.
And on top of all that, 2024 Classic and Elite Series berths are all up for grabs.
The sun will set soon here on practice, and then it will be time to let the fishing speak for itself. Tune into Bassmaster.com starting tomorrow morning to see how this one shakes out.
