Day 1 leader, Bryan Schmitt, hammers down on Day 2 of the 2022 Guaranteed Rate Bassmaster Elite at Mississippi River.
Schmitt started about 10 miles down river fishing shallow waters.
And it doesn’t take long for the fish to start biting.
First hook up of the day comes off, but there is plenty more to come.
And almost immediately, he finds another.
No the biggest, but a good start.
A quick of about five miles to another trusted spot.
And this spot is about to fire up quick.
And every so often, a bigger one is in the mix.
Another fish onthe hook, and this one feels like a bigger one.
A couple pounds and some change, keeper number four gives his a decent jump in weight.
Schmitt continues to catch one fish after another. Some with size and some getting put right back in the water.
Schmitt finally lands a Mississippi River stud to keep his name at the top of the leaderboard.
In the livewell and back to fishing. Schmitt has a limit and continues to search for bigger fish to cull up with.
At this point it’s easy to loose count. Schmitt has landed one fish after another quick, which gives him plenty of time to upgrade.
After spending the morning with Schmitt, we caught up with Jay Przekurat who is, at the time, sitting in third place on BASSTrakk.
We didn’t show up in time to see any fish catches, but Przekurat is fishing along shallow reeds with a small variety of baits.
