Przekurat, Benton tackle St. Lawrence

Go on the water with Jay Przekurat and Drew Benton on the third day of the 2022 Guaranteed Rate Bassmaster Elite at St. Lawrence River!

Catch up with your day two leader, Jay Przekurat, on semifinal Saturday.
I caught up with Przekurat early in the day, where he was fishing his dedicated spot. As we approached, he hooked up right away.
But, this was the one that got away. Przekurat shows a little frustration, but isn’t phased.
A quick rod change and he’s back in the water.
Przekurat is fishing his tried and true spot since day one. He is finess fishing in about 20 feet of wate. relying on the graph to troll around and locate fish.
The area he is fishing is vast, with no rhyme or reason to his movements with he boat. Therefore, you will notice the majority of these photos are taken from far away. We had to stay back in order to not disturb the area.
After a little while and a lot of moving around, Przekurat hooks up on another one.

A slower start for Przekurat, but this fish boots him back into the top ten on BASSTrakk. A good limit would put him back on top.
Almost immediately, he finds another.
Not a massive smallmouth, but it helps his cause.
it’s officially a flurry as he hooks into another.
And a better one is in the boat! With a limit of good fish, Przekurat is back in the lead according to BASSTrakk.
Time to make a long run to find some culling fish. At this point, all he can do is try to stretch that lead!
After Przekurat left, we caught up with Drew Benton. Benton is currently sitting in 12th place on BASStrakk.
We showed up at the right time. He hooks up right away.
I think we were all surpised, including Benton, as this smallmouth made its way opposite side of the boat before taking a leap.

After some patience and wrangling, Benton finally gets it back on his side of the boat.
And it’s in!
Some eyeballing before making the cull, and Benton puts an upgrade into the livewell.
Benton continues to hunt for larger fish to hold his position. currently hugging the cutline, he has some work to finish.
Watch how it all pans out today at weigh in. Something tells me no one knows what will really happen. It’s semifinal Saturday at the 2022 Guaranteed Rate Bassmaster Elite at St. Lawrence River.
