Lester’s late-morning surge

Catch up with top AOY contender Brandon Lester as he makes a push for the trophy on Day 2 of the 2022 Guaranteed Rate Bassmaster Elite at Mississippi River!

Late in the morning on Day 2 of the Guaranteed Rate Bassmaster Elite at Mississippi River, anglers began to make moves up and down the river. Several anglers decided to make the move up to seven.
As multiple Elites entered the lock, Brandon Lester lurked just around the corner. The Tennessee pro was making major moves up the leaderboard for the event and in the AOY standings.
After a rock solid morning, and a tough start for Brandon Palaniuk, Brandon Lester unofficially took the lead in Progressive Bassmaster Angler of the Year points.
Once Lester made his way to the dam, things started happening quickly.
After examining this fish, he eventually decides that it wont help.
Lester continued down the man made structure. At this point in the morning, the rain began and only got stronger the rest of the day.
Just a few moments later, Lester hooks up with a good one. Unfortunately, it jumps and spits the bait.
Rather than getting upset about losing a good one, Lester gets right back at it and hooks up with another good one.
Lester makes the cull and fires back out there.
The very next cast, Lester hooks up again.
Despite being a solid keeper, this fish won’t help Lester either.
