Foutz fires ’em up

Join Jacob Foutz as he gets going early on the final day of the 2022 Whataburger Bassmaster Elite at Pickwick Lake!

Bringing in a bag that weighted 21-4 on Day 3, Jacob Foutz jolted himself into third place heading into Championship Sunday of the Whataburger Bassmaster Elite at Pickwick Lake.
The Elite Series rookie has relied on one key area all week. Unlike the majority of the anglers fishing on Championship Sunday, Foutz’s spot is not on the main river, but rather at the mouth of a major creek arm.
As soon as Foutz got to work at his primary spot, he got on a quick flurry with a deep diving crankbait.
Foutz hooked up with his first keeper of the morning just 18 minutes after official takeoff.
Not a giant, but a great start to the morning nontheless.
Over the course of the tournament, when Foutz catches a fish, it typically fires the school up and he catches multiple fish in a short period of time.
Just a couple of casts later, Foutz hooks up with another keeper.
The fish only has one hook, so Foutz goes to land it at the driver’s seat.
Barely hooked!
Luckily, Foutz grabs the solid fish before it jumps off.
Once the school shut down, Foutz began to rotate through a variety of different baits.
The rotation included a couple of different crankbaits, a magnum spoon, big worm and a football jig.
Foutz picks up the big worm and gets a bite almost immediately.
This is the caliber of fish that he’s looking for on Championship Sunday to make a charge.
Once again, just getting one bite on the big worm fires the school back up, and Foutz capitilizes with multiple keepers in a row.
After boating his limit, Foutz picks up a football jig and gets the school fired up once again.
Every day of the tournament, Foutz has caught a solid limit quickly and slowly upgraded. Today, he won’t be saving any fish and could potentially sack up his biggest bag of the event.
