Champlain: Social media roundup

The Dakota Lithium Bassmaster Elite at Lake Champlain is set to start tomorrow. Let’s take a quick look around social media to see how the Elites have fared through practice so far. Mike Iaconelli set out for a little adventure with his crew prior to Champlain.
Ike’s son, Vegas, with a nice smallmouth from shore.
Lots of beautiful wild country to explore in upstate New York.
Ike also spent some time teaching kids to fish at an Ike Foundation event before heading to Champlain.
The crew made it to the campground.
Derek Hudnall enjoying a cup of coffee as he contemplates the start of official practice for this the eighth stop of the Elite Series season.
We hop in with Carl Jocumsen and head to the water.
A beautiful morning to go fishing.
Time to get to work.
Judging by Luke Palmer’s attire, apparently, the morning boat ride was a little brisk. Air temps forecasted to be in the 60s and 70s throughout most of this event.
Frank Talley idles out towards a stunning sunrise.
A shot from the cockpit of Darold Gleason’s ride.
Literally as pretty as a picture out on Champlain.
The sunrises and sunsets have been marvelous.
Alex Wetherell taking one in.
Rick Clunn enjoying a beautiful one as well.
It’s not all sunshine and rainbows here though.
Joey Cifuentes dons the rain gear to stay dry.
Going to be a lot of looking down again at this one.
The forward-facing electronics will prove supremely important for catching the clear water, highly pressured smallmouth.
Drew Benton hooked up with a nice smallmouth.
But lots of other fish roam these waters as well.
Paul Mueller with what I am assuming turned into his dinner.
David Williams with a long one of the wrong sort.
But make no mistake, big ones like this one caught by Bryan New swim here too.
Buddy Gross with another stud.
Chris Zaldain catching two at a time…
… as his latest catch came with a tag-along lamprey.
Zaldain with a personal best, drum.
It seems like Zaldain is on a very, very mixed bag.
And then you’ve got Jacob Powroznik getting trail cam photos of big bucks blowing up his phone during practice. It’s proving hard to get dialed in out there.
David Mullins stumbles onto a sunken ship, one he estimated at 70 feet in length.
Back to the big bass.
Carl Jocumsen releases this beauty back into the water.
Lots of small bass being caught too.
It looks like the lake is healthy, with a large crop of young smallmouth swimming in these waters.
The guys aren’t all that excited about these little ones.
But every 5-pound smallmouth started out as a fry, so this is good news for the future of the fishery.
Kyle Norsetter knows though, this is the kind that he’s going to need to linkup with this week.
A nice one for Brandon Card. We haven’t seen many anglers posting largemouth pics yet, but there will likely be several quality largemouth that come across the stage in this one.
We leave you with a big catch from Scott Canterbury’s practice. Tune into Bassmaster.com first thing in the morning to get in on all the action as the Dakota Lithium Bassmaster Elite at Lake Champlain gets underway.
