Every year the Bassmaster Elite Series heads to Lake Champlain there will be a debate, largemouth or smallmouth?
Last year, largemouth were outliers and second thoughts for anglers. Smallmouth dominated and were better for size and numbers throughout the event. Zero anglers in the Top 10 weighed largemouth during the tournament, but in 2024 the results have turned to normalcy. Largemouth are factoring in a major way, not only for size but numbers as well. If you think about the big bass category specifically, they are the x-factor.
Kyle Patrick (6-2), Seth Feider (6-0), Matt Herren (5-15), Ed Loughran (5-12), Greg Hackney (5-7), Caleb Sumrall (5-7) and Loughran (5-7) were all upper echelon largemouth weighed this week.
