AOY rankings shakeup at Smith

Trey McKinney's Day 2 DQ shakes up the top of the AOY standings.

Updated: 6/30/24

Trey McKinney held down the top spot in the Progressive Bassmaster Angler of the Year race for nearly the entire season, but after Day 2 of the TNT Fireworks Bassmaster Elite at Smith Lake, there’s a new name at the top of the leaderboard in reigning Bass Pro Shops Bassmaster Classic champion Justin Hamner.

After self-reporting a rules violation on Day 2 at Smith Lake, McKinney’s Day 2 catch was disqualified, resulting in a drop down to 93rd place in the event. This opened the door for Justin Hamner to take the lead. Cody Huff initially jumped into second place, but now he’s third and McKinney is currently second in the AOY standings.

Here’s how the Top 10 Progressive Bassmaster Angler of the Year points stacked up after the TNT Fireworks Bassmaster Elite at Smith Lake.

With four of the AOY top 10 anglers fishing on Championship Sunday at Smith Lake, there were definitely valuable points up for grab.
