When the scales close today, there will still be 8 hours of fishing left in the 2023 Bassmaster Elite Series season. It will remain to be seen who wins this event, how many smallmouth Century Belts will be handed out and which Elite Pros will qualify and re-qualify for the 2024 Bassmaster Classic and Elite Series.
A handful of anxious anglers will know their fates today, once all but 10 anglers are eliminated from this week’s competition on the St. Lawrence. We should be able to crown Kyle Welcher as the 2023 Progressive Angler of the Year. But by the looks of it, the Dakota Lithium Rookie of the Year race may come down to Kyoya Fujita’s performance tomorrow. The Cowboy started today four points ahead of Fujita in the ROY race, but 9 places back in this tournament. Unless Cifuentes rallies to 16th or better (currently 20th on BassTakk), his fate will be decided by Fujita (currently 4th on BassTrakk).
