Clark Wendlandt appears to be the lone angler to make the Top 10 down in South Bay. Reeling a worm slow produced most of the fish for Wednlandt to start the event, but a smart switch to a vibrating jig brought in critical bites on Days 2 and 3. Wendlandt expressed concern at takeoff that the lack of wind could make catching fish on his primary spot challenging.
Day 1 was slick, and Wendlandt’s 18-pound, 9- ounce weight on Thursday was an impressive accomplishment given those conditions. On Days 2 and 3 when the wind blew, Wendlandt had 25 pounds, 5 ounces and 23 pounds, 4 ounces. The wind is predicted to be light all day today, which will make running back from South Bay a breeze (pardon the pun). But it may be tough for Wendlandt to move from 4th towards the top of the leaderboard.
