Three of our current top five are fishing way up the Kissimmee River: Will Davis Jr (1st), Kyle Welcher (3rd) and John Crews (5th). It isn’t unheard of for an angler to do well up the river. But three doing this well this early is a little odd, especially considering the anglers took off from Clewiston on the opposite end of the lake.
Traditionally, it’s hard to get on 20 fish in the river throughout a four-day event that can compete with 20 fish caught on the lake. But these three anglers all predicted 80- pounds or so to win this event and they’re up there plugging away… and doing well this morning. So, they obviously know something.
