Patrick Walters is on the board on Championship Sunday, landing three keeper bass off one point just before 8 a.m. and another just after 8. After a short move and a 30-minute lull, Walters landed bass number four.
“There’s a bunch of them down there, they just aren’t active yet,” Walters said.
Walters has been picking apart shallow points with several different baits using his LiveScope as well as his eyes. At the second stop of the morning, the bass were schooling on the surface, but he couldn’t get any of those fish to bite his topwater. Still, Walters is on pace to achieve a quick limit and then hunt for more bass like the 4-pounder he currently has in the box.
It’s cool, sunny, and calm this morning on Lake Murray, similar to how Day 1 started. Anglers who are sight fishing for spawners will have plenty of opportunities.
