Very different conditions

As Day 3 dawns, we have very different conditions on Lake Oahe. Low hanging fog and slick calm conditions have the anglers venturing out onto the lake, a little farther than they would have otherwise. The first two days of this event, the mornings were a little calmer but then the wind picked up around lunch and things got pretty hairy out there. Today, the forecast calls for calm winds all day.

Greg Hackney and Jason Christie are hosting the LIVE Mix show this morning. Hackney made the comment that these conditions should lead to better weights. During practice, Hackney saw similar conditions lead to giant smallmouth schooling out in the middle of the lake, over 100 feet of water. Christie talked about how he was able to call smallmouth up from 25 feet deep with a Spook during practice on a day like this.

With anglers able to move around more efficiently and several additional techniques on the table, LIVE is going to be fun to watch. Even the forward-facing sonar that so many anglers rely on now will be far easier to use without the boat bobbing up and down in 3- foot waves.  Day 3 should be a good one for the guys on the water.
