“It looks really good in there right now,” remarked Brandon Palaniuk. The Minn Kota Humminbird Pro is still grinding towards a limit of bass looking at offshore structure.
Where is doesn’t look good, by his own admission, is in his Skeeter livewells where he is once again sitting on four bass, only today, those four go a shade over 11 pounds….half of what his four fish went on Day 1.
Palaniuk is seeing bass and many of them are following his bait; however, we’re dealing with commitment issues here so far today.
I asked Palaniuk earlier if today was “cut ice cream day” referring to the tradition of enjoying ice cream with his team each time they make a Day 3 cut. “I’ll feel better about ‘cut ice cream’ once we get a couple more in the boat. We need to upgrade and get rid of our last bass,” (it’s the smallest of the four at the moment) said the defending Bassmaster Angler of the Year.
Palaniuk is certainly seeing the bass on his Humminbird Mega Live. He reminded me earlier for all the people down on forward facing sonar, “Seeing them is one thing, getting them to bite is another.”
With the 4pm check in, the longer fishing day today and back in the area he began his day, and the Skeeter Yamaha Pro is just past halfway in his fishing day.
Lots of time left and lots of opportunities await before cut ice cream.
